Reunions and good friends

Starting my “Epic Road Trip” on Memorial day weekend was perhaps not my brightest idea…

Leaving Northern California after a visit with family I realized the error in my ways as soon as the I-5 traffic reared its ugly head near Sacramento. The planned 4 hour drive was more like 6.5 when all was said and done and I arrived in Watsonville, CA for a little driveway “moochdocking”. I spent the week visiting with friends and actually seeing people in person which was such a treat! I didn’t realize how much I missed hugs!

Lots of good visits, laughs and so much food was topped off with a trip to Big Sur to visit the Pfeiffer beach and enjoy lunch (yes, more food!) at Big Sur River Inn (one of my favorite spots ever!) I’d say I finished the week on a high point.

6-5-21: Reluctantly leaving I headed East towards the Sierra’s and my overnight stop at New Melones lake campground. I found the lake was WAY down but the campsite was pleasant and nearly deserted since it was Sunday.

After a nice quiet night I enjoyed a float plane making practice take off and landings on the lake while having my morning coffee.
