12/14 – Reluctant to leave my great spot on the Peace River but excited to hang out with friends, I broke camp and made the short drive back to the Gulf coast and Fort De Soto park campground. I met with Andrew for lunch in Bradenton and after some great shrimp and chips we headedContinue reading “Fort De Soto, Part Deux”

Heading North
12/01 – After leaving Key Largo my next stop was to revisit Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring FL. Only an easy 3 hour drive it was an ideal way to ease back into the travelling life. I was eager to visit again and hit the trails and onsite Civilian Conservation Corp museum I hadContinue reading “Heading North”
November in Key Largo
The weather in the early part of November was still not the picture perfect Florida weather of sunshine and puffy clouds, there were days with heavy tropical rain as shown in an earlier picture of my flooded trailer spot. I was quickly becoming a weather channel junky trying to predict the good days so thatContinue reading “November in Key Largo”
South for the winter!
10/28/21 – Midway campground. I had picked this spot for its location as it really was about “midway” for me from Sebring to my next stop in Key Largo. A small state campground of about 20 sites around a small pond. Nothing to write home about and I didn’t take a single picture the fewContinue reading “South for the winter!”
Florida Atlantic Coast
10/14/21 – I arrived at Faver-Dykes state park and got settled into my spot which was very nice! All the sites in the park are large and nicely separated from each other. After setting up, I took the bike around to explore the park. I was glad to have a nice spot for 7 nights,Continue reading “Florida Atlantic Coast”
Florida Panhandle
10-7-21: Today I moved to Falling Waters State Park, located in the Florida panhandle a little over an hour Northeast of Panama City Florida, its a smaller campground and is highly reviewed for being quiet and well maintained. I selected this area to be close to the Gulf coast. I snagged a great pull thruContinue reading “Florida Panhandle”
Florida Caverns State Park
10-3-21: Back on the road again I did a quick rainy overnight stay in southern South Carolina and the next morning I way up early and started the 6 hour drive to my next stop at the Florida Caverns State Park. Due to the length of the drive I decided to just grind it outContinue reading “Florida Caverns State Park”
Diving the Atlantic
09-18-21- Today I dove an artificial reef off the coast of North Myrtle Beach SC. The “Charleston Tug” was a great dive, the water was a warm 82 degrees and the visibility was excellent. The tug sits upright in 63ft of water about 8 miles off shore. An early 6:30am 😳 start led to aContinue reading “Diving the Atlantic”
Hershey PA, Virginia and North Carolina
8/21/21 – 9/5/21: Once again I scored a great spot with Harvest Hosts and today I’ll be visiting and then staying right at the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey PA. I arrived and picked a nice spot in the parking lot next to an antique bus. The day I arrived they were hosting a localContinue reading “Hershey PA, Virginia and North Carolina”
