My first stay with Harvest Hosts

4-20-21: Wow, I couldn’t be happier with my first stay! For those that aren’t familiar, Harvest Hosts is a membership program that allows RVers to stay at unique locations overnight. FOR FREE, you are just asked to patronize the host if they have stuff to sell as a thank you for staying. Think wineries, breweries, farms and museums as the hosts, places I’m likely to stop at anyhow!

Tonight on my way to Vancouver, I stopped at the Antique Powerland Museum in lovely downtown Brooks, OR (population 492, salute!). Right off of I-5 north of Salem, OR. This place is amazing! Truly a must see if you love machinery, trucks, cars or motorcycles and all things mechanical, oh did I mention STEAM ENGINES!! Run by an all volunteer crew they have 60+ acres of independent museums which each have a theme or area of specialization.

Since I visited on a Tuesday, they are closed. Other than the super friendly caretaker (Hi Tom!) I am nearly the only person on site. I took the bike out for a ride and peeked in all the windows and checked out the outdoor displays and equipment and took some photos.

There are huge flocks of geese flying overhead right now as I sit at the picnic table writing this post. Truly an oasis, just 1/4 mile from the busy Interstate. I couldn’t ask for more.
